Entertainment / ‘Unprecedented demand’ for Tall Ships tickets
SHETLAND Arts says it is working with its box office provider on its online queueing system after “unprecedented demand” for Tall Ships music tickets.
Tickets for the Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at the July event went online at 10am.
But those buying online through Shetland Arts’ box office have been faced with lengthy waits as the system struggles with demand.
Shetland Arts said on Facebook this morning: “We are working with our box office provider to resolve this as fast as possible. In the meantime, thank you for your patience.”
Folk who turned up to Mareel in person to buy tickets have also reported some delays.
There are, however, thousands of tickets going on sale. The capacity of the Holmsgarth venue is 5,500, although some of the tickets will be reserved for visiting ship crew.
Headlining the three ticketed nights will be Tide Lines, Peat and Diesel and Queen II.
There will also be entertainment on the Wednesday night at Holmsgarth but that will not be ticketed.
Tickets for late night DJ sets at Mareel during the Tall Ships also went on sale at 10am.
