Entertainment / Morton ‘thrilled’ as Holy Waters named drink book of the year
AUTHOR and local Labour councillor Tom Morton said he is “thrilled” to have won a prestigious award for his latest book Holy Waters: Searching for the sacred in a glass.
Published by Watkins, Holy Waters was named the Drink Book of the Year at the Fortnum & Mason Food and Drink Awards, held the Royal Exchange in London on Thursday night.
The book was written during the Coronavirus pandemic and explores the links between faith and alcohol, spirits and the spiritual.
Morton was in London this week to meet his publishers and attend the event.
He said: “I’m thrilled, delighted and surprised. It’s great that a book officially launched in Shetland Library should end up winning at the Royal Exchange in London.”
The Fortnum & Mason Food and Drink Awards champion the achievements of the UK’s food and drink writers, broadcasters and personalities by handing out awards across 17 categories.
