Space / Planners happy with proposal to turn former brewery into spaceport centre
THE SECOND of three main planning applications relating to the SaxaVord Spaceport in Unst has been given approval from the council.
The latest one is to turn the former Valhalla Brewery building at Haroldswick to a launch and range control centre.
It comes after the primary application for a launch site at Lamba Ness was given approval from the council and the Scottish Government.
Like that application, the launch and range centre application has to go through the process of being reviewed by Scottish ministers.
Another planning application relates to road improvements at Northdale.
Meanwhile a fourth application relates to the siting and installation of two satellite antennae, which is part retrospective.
A spokesperson for the company said that road construction is expected to take first prior to work on the spaceport.
