Space / Spaceport set to receive formal planning consent
FORMAL planning permission is set to be granted to Unst’s spaceport after Scottish ministers confirmed they have no intention to intervene in the process.
The council’s planning service previously confirmed it was minded to approve an application for launch pads at Lamba Ness.
But the Scottish Government had 28 days to mull over that decision.
In a letter dated 25 March, however, a government representative told the planning service: “It is not Scottish Ministers’ intention to intervene in this application by either issuing a direction restricting the granting of planning permission or by calling in the application for their own determination.
“Accordingly you, as determining authority, are hereby authorised to deal with the application in the manner you think fit.”
