Entertainment / Fiddle Frenzy rebranded
There will be more emphasis on other aspects of folk music.
SHETLAND Arts’ Fiddle Frenzy event is set to broaden its horizons this year by encompassing other styles of folk.
The week-long series of workshops, concerts and sessions is now called Folk Frenzy and it will take place between 14-19 July.
The annual event took a break in 2018 to allow organisers Shetland Arts to review how the festival was run.
Folk Frenzy will be curated this year by fiddler Kevin Henderson, with tutors confirmed so far including Catriona Macdonald, Ross Couper and Finnish fiddler Antti Järvela.
The organisers said that “Shetland fiddle tradition will be at the core of the event but there will be the chance to get an insight to other styles and musical thoughts”.
