Reese Witherspoon Reveals the Two Things She’s Always Convincing Co-Star Nicole Kidman To Do

While some people out there still think that nothing’s real in Hollywood, from celebrities’ appearances to their relationships, some celebrity friendships prove that there’s no such thing. Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman‘s friendship, for example, is what best friends are all about.

In a recent chat for Vanity Fair’s Reunited series, the Big Little Lies co-stars talked about their connection, and the many things they have in common.

Starting their conversation, the two admitted that their chat isn’t as much of a reunion as the series suggests. “We see each other quite a bit,” Kidman said.

The two then talked about their favorite things to do together, which include walking in the woods together and solving “all the problems” they have in those conversations.

“The thing I’ve been always pressuring her to do is write a book,” Witherspoon then said about the Expats star, to which she decidedly said “No.” “She’s never going to do it,” The Morning Show star said.

“Or just let me interview her about all her different movies,” Witherspoon added.

That idea, luckily, is something Kidman’s warming up to. “Which I may let her do at some point and she’s got to let me do the same,” Kidman said. “Reese has an enormous amount of wisdom which if you get to get it it’s like ‘Tell me, what do you think?'”

Reciprocating the compliment, Witherspoon admitted to geeking out about Kidman when they first met. “When I first got to meet Nicole, I said ‘Tell me everything about To Die For‘ because that’s my favorite movie you’ve ever been in,” she said. “I just think your character is so fascinating and calculating and shrewd but lacks awareness.”

The two then continued chatting, talking about their similarities like their mutual love for movies and books.

“We’ve both started very young, which has its own sets of problems, which we’ve discussed, and also virtues,” Kidman added. “When you start that young in the industry, you reach this age and you’ve got so much experience.”

“You also become very comfortable being uncomfortable because you’ve literally paid your dues,” Witherspoon said. “[From] being the lowest person on the totem pole, getting to become a very known actor to becoming a producer to being in charge. We’ve had similar journeys like that.”

As a reminder, Kidman began executive producing with their show Big Little Lies while Witherspoon, who has her own production company Hello Sunshine, started producing decades ago in Legally Blond 2.

“I didn’t start out thinking ‘I want to produce,'” Kidman admitted. “Me neither,” Witherspoon said. “It was a very natural progression.”

Currently, Witherspoon and Kidman are producing and starring in the third season of Big Little Lies. “We’re moving fast and furious,” Kidman told Variety about the upcoming season. “[Author] Liane [Moriarty] is delivering the book. We’re in good shape.” We can’t wait to see these BFFs (both off and onscreen) back in action!
