Morley Wayne Evans OBITUARY

It’s with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Morley Wayne Evans, 82, of Yucaipa, Ca. Wayne, as he was best known, left us doing what he loved most. On June 29, 2024 he died suddenly of a heart attack, while completing a 5k run with one of his grandchildren.Wayne was born on April 24, 1942 to parents Morley and Flossie Evans of San Bernardino. He was a member of the 1960 graduation class of Fontana High School, where he lettered in Basketball and met his future bride Kathy.Upon graduating, Wayne enlisted in the United States Air Force and was eventually stationed at Castle Air Force Base in Merced, Ca. Wayne always loved to draw so it wasn’t a surprise when he was assigned to design the insignia for the Strategic Air Command, an accomplishment that he was very proud of. Wayne was a salesman from an early age, pushing ice cream carts through the streets of San Bernardino. His love for people and the thrill of the sale culminated into the successful business he ran until his death. Wayne was a 5th generation native son of San Bernardino and proud member of the Historical Society. He loved to preserve and share the history of San Bernardino and the Evans name, including occasional tours of the local historical cemeteries. When not working, Wayne enjoyed running with his children and grandchildren in local organized events and taking road trips with his wife Kathy. A road trip with Wayne was an adventure and usually included a stop at a casino or two. If he passed a road he wasn’t familiar with, he would take it to see where it led.Wayne is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kathy Evans; his two sons Chris, and wife Robin and Matt, and wife Heather; his daughter Karly Wilson; two grandsons Blake and Malachi Wilson; granddaughter Kaylin Burgess, and husband Daniel; and great granddaughter Beckett.Interment will be private. The family is planning a celebration of life after the interment. Notifications will go out with date and location. Get your stories ready to share. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Fontana High Scholarship fund or the San Bernardino Historical Society
