Barbara Sausser OBITUARY

Barbara Jean Kramp Sausser, 87, of Riverside, California, passed peacefully under hospice care on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, in Moreno Valley. Barbara was born September 18, 1936, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, the eldest of two daughters born to Ernest and Doris Kramp.She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Southern California in 1959 before becoming a freelance journalist, school teacher, wife, parent, and homemaker. Barbara was a gardening expert with a special interest in herbs and maintained her small business, Barb’s Country Herbs, for many years. She did freelance writing and copyediting for local trade publications while raising her three daughters. In recent years Barbara followed politics closely both locally and nationally, and urged everyone in her life to exercise their right to vote.Barbara is survived by her daughters, Amy Sausser and her husband Jerry Soto, and Anne Sausser and her husband Robert Al-Shamma; as well as her sister Carole Worden. She leaves behind one grandchild, Oliver Al-Shamma. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Sausser; her daughter, Alicia Gensel; her parents, Ernest and Doris; and many beloved pets. The celebration of Barbara’s life will be held July 22, 2024. The memorial service will be held at 9:45AM at the Riverside National Cemetery at 22495 Van Buren Blvd in Riverside, with a celebration of life to follow. In lieu of cut flowers, donations in her name to the League of Women Voters (www.lwv.org) would be greatly appreciated.
