A fire on Tuesday, June 18, heavily damaged a commercial building in San Bernardino, the San Bernardino County Fire Department said.
At around 11:54 p.m. near Inland Center and West Adell Street in San Bernardino, near the 215 Freeway, fire crews responded to a commercial fire, and people reported that they saw smoke and fire from a commercial occupancy, a Wednesday news release said.
San Bernardino County Fire responded with eight fire engines, a heavy equipment team, two fire investigators and assistance from the Colton Fire Department.
Fire crews initiated a fire attack while searching for potential victims and limiting the fire’s spread.
Due to the size of the building and the extent of the fire, a second alarm was called. The department’s news release said the fire grew and forced firefighters to change to a defensive posture, using thousands of gallons of water.
The news release said the building sustained heavy damage, and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
