The Inland girls athlete of the week:

Name: Alyssa Alumbres

School: Vista Murrieta

Sport: Track and Field

Year: Senior

Noteworthy: Alumbres became the first girls track and field athlete in school history to win a state championship when she claimed the triple jump title at Buchanan High School in Clovis. Alumbres posted a wind-legal jump of 40 feet, 11 inches during the second round and added a jump of 40-2 3/4 in the third round. She was the only athlete to top 40 feet during that championship session. The 40-11 jump was the top mark in the state this year and also broke the previous school record of 40-6 set by Michelle Norman in 2014. Alumbres also placed second in the long jump with a mark of 19-5 1/2.
