Brody Buoncristiani, Max Zaldivar, Taylor Garcia and Andrew Baldomino combined on a six-inning one-hitter Tuesday afternoon as the Chino Hills baseball team rolled to a 11-1 home victory over North Hollywood in a CIF State Division IV regional opener.

The top-seeded Huskies (22-8-2) host No. 5-seeded San Diego University (28-5) in a regional semifinal Thursday.

Buoncristiani started and went four innings, allowing the lone hit while striking out seven to pick up his 11th victory the season. Zaldivar, Garcia and Baldomino combined for two hitless innings of relief to secure the victory for the Huskies.

Chino Hills grabbed a 3-0 lead in the first inning, with Jackson Gray Frankie Brazil and Favian Vazquez each driving in a run.

Gray knocked in three runs in the game. Brazil and Jacob Jimenez each had a pair of hits and both players scored two runs.

OTHER BASEBALL RESULTS

Ayala 3, San Marcos 0: Caleb Trugman allowed two hits and struck out seven in 6 2/3 innings in leading the Bulldogs to a road victory over No. 2-seeded San Marcos. Ayala (16-12-1) had only three hits, but two of those left the yard. Aidan Erlandsen gave the No. 7-seeded Bulldogs the lead with a two-run home run with two outs in the fifth. Two pitches later, Jaden Valenzuela sent a ball over the fence to extend the lead. Ayala travels to No. 3-seeded Moorpark (20-11-1) on Thursday.

University City 8, Colony 2: Garret Gillum improved to 10-0 and also knocked in a pair of runs as the No. 5-seeded Centurions (28-5) defeated No. 4-seeded Colony in a Division IV regional opener. Gillum scattered six hits, allowed one earned run and struck out four over six innings. Colony’s Steven Gonzales, Johnny Barrientos and Diego Martinez-Gomez combined for 10 strikeouts. Martinez-Gomez and Connor Rangel drove in the runs for the Titans (26-7-1).

SOFTBALL RESULTS

Murrieta Mesa 3, Mater Dei 0: Lilly Hauser tossed a shutout and also belted a three-run home run in leading the top-seeded Rams (26-4) in a Division I regional opener. Hauser allowed two hits, walked four and struck out 13 batters to record her 22nd win of the season. Hauser also provided all the offense Murrieta Mesa would need. Gracy Zamora got things started for the Rams with a double, and Danica Hobbs followed with a single. Hauser then sent her eighth home run of the year over the right-field fence. Hobbs had a pair of hits for the Rams, who will host Southwestern League rival Great Oak on Friday at 4 p.m.

Great Oak 4, St. Joseph 2: Miali Guachino fired a three-hitter and struck out 16 as the No. 5-seeded Wolfpack (16-10-1) won a Division I opener over No. 4-seeded St. Joseph of Santa Maria. Great Oak grabbed a quick lead, as Guachino tripled home a run in the top of the first inning. Kanani Elderts followed with a sacrifice fly for a 2-0 lead. St. Joseph tied the score in the fourth inning on a two-run home run by Charli Escobedo. Great Oak regained the lead in the sixth inning on back-to-back RBI doubles by Audrey Newell and Josephine Burke. The Wolfpack head to Murrieta Mesa for a regional semifinal Friday afternoon.

Valley View 4, Poway 3: Jacqueline Divine drove in the deciding run with two outs in the sixth inning top help the No. 7-seeded Eagles defeat No. 2 seeded Poway in a Division I regional opener. Poway, the San Diego Section’s Open Division champion, grabbed the lead when McKenna Bunting singled home a run in the second inning. Valley View (26-5-1) surged in front during the third inning. Jayleen Hernandez singled in a pair of runs, and Skye Johnson added an RBI single to extend the Eagles’ lead to 3-1. Poway tied the score in the fifth on a two-run home run by Sophia Burmeister. Tatiana Gomez led off Valley View’s half of the sixth with a walk, moved to third following a sacrifice by Madison Barrios and a single by Destiny Mendoza. Divine singled to left field to bring in the go-ahead run. Poway had the potential tying and winning runs on base with no outs in the bottom of the seventh after a leadoff single by Alexis Huey and an intentional walk to Burmeister. However, Bella Hernandez preserved the win by getting a strikeout, a groundout, and a pop out to end the game. Valley View will return to San Diego County on Thursday to face No. 3-seeded Del Norte in the regional semifinals. Del Norte defeated Valley View 13-3 when the teams played a nonleague game in April.

King 10, Rio Mesa 3: Mackenzie Carlone went 3 for 4 with two runs batted in and was part of a tag-team effort inside the circle as the No. 5-seeded Wolves defeated No. 4-seeded Rio Mesa in a Division II regional opener. Addison Zimmerman (two innings), Alannah Avina (three innings) and Carlone (two innings) each gave up one run. King (20-10) scored twice in the first inning, with Mya Allen doubling in the first one and Karsyn Sanchez bringing home another on a sacrifice fly. The Wolves added three more in the fourth. Cheri Thompson led off with a home run, and Brooke Lebsock doubled in two more. King had 15 hits, including three by Lebsock. The Wolves head to Chula Vista on Thursday to take on top-seeded Mater Dei Catholic in a regional semifinal game.

Otay Ranch 5, Liberty 4: Liberty’s comeback effort was thwarted when top-seeded Otay Ranch scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out a victory over the No. 8-seeded Bison in a Division III regional opener. Liberty (22-8) trailed 3-0 after four innings, but RBIs by Attiana Thompson and Kaylee Fraund in the fifth inning helped the Bison trim the deficit to one. Julie Thompkins drove in the tying run in the sixth inning, and Haley Kitzerow gave Liberty a 4-3 lead with an RBI double in the top of the seventh inning. Otay Ranch answered as Ariele Torres doubled home the tying run, and Melania Contreras laid down a squeeze bunt to bring home Kaylin Phillips with the winning run.

Imperial 7, North 0: Jayden Rutledge tossed a three-hitter and struck out five as the No. 3-seeded Tigers cruised past No. 6-seeded North in a Division III opener. Madeleine Magdelano went 3 for 3 and drove home two runs for Imperial. Xochitl Frias had two hits for North (17-16).

Coastal Academy 16, Jurupa Valley 3: The No. 3-seeded Stingrays scored 10 runs in the first inning and cruised past No. 6-seeded Jurupa Valley. Ava Alvarez went 4 for 4 with a home run and four runs batted in. Delylah Ordman and Sofia Tillis also had four hits for Coastal Academy. Tillis allowed no earned runs and struck out five to pick up the victory. Veronica Montoya and Sophia Padilla knocked in runs for Jurupa Valley (19-14).
