A motorcyclist died Sunday afternoon after his vehicle struck a pole after veering into a median in Chula Vista.
Several people called 911 to report the crash on East H Street near Paseo del Rey shortly after 3:30 p.m. The man was riding east on East H Street when he veered to the left and struck the center median and then the pole, Chula Vista police said.
He was later pronounced dead at Scripps Mercy Hospital, police said.
Police said the crash is under investigation but it appears speed was a factor. Officers have not determined if drugs or alcohol were involved.
The deceased man’s name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
