When will it warm up? San Diego just ended its fourth straight month of below-average temperatures

The cool air can be largely attributed to the frequency of the northern jet stream dropping into Southern California

San Diego will enjoy seasonal temperatures through Friday, then cooler air will move in.

For the fourth straight month, the average temperature at San Diego International Airport was below average in April, and more cool air is expected this weekend, the National Weather Service said.

“This was caused by the northern jet stream, which has frequently brought low pressure systems and cool air our way this year,” said Miguel Miller, a weather service forecaster.

The average temperature for April was 60.9 degrees, which was 2 degrees below average. There were nine days in which the weather was clear or mostly clear. The atmosphere can be cool even when the weather is fair.

San Diego’s daytime high will be 68 on Thursday and Friday, 67 on Saturday and 64 on Sunday. The seasonal average is 69.

Sea surface temperatures also continue to be a bit cooler than average along the coast, reaching only 59 degrees in some spots, the weather service said.
