CHP investigating hit-and-run after body found on side of Interstate 8

A driver spotted the body next to the fast lane just west of Interstate 5 and called 911 just before 6:45 a.m., according to an online CHP log

SAN DIEGO  — The California Highway Patrol is investigating a felony hit-and-run involving a pedestrian after a body was found next to the eastbound lanes of Interstate 8 in the Midway District area early Thursday, officials said.

A driver spotted the body next to the fast lane just west of Interstate 5 and called 911 just before 6:45 a.m., according to an online CHP log.

The county Medical Examiner’s Office was dispatched to the scene to pick up the body. The fast lane of the freeway was shut down as an investigation was conducted, the CHP said.

No other details were immediately released.
