San DiegoSan Diego — A cab struck a woman, seriously injuring her, as she was crossing Sixth Avenue in downtown San Diego in the rain Friday morning.
Police said the 52-year-old woman suffered an open fracture to her ankle and scraped knees.
It appears that she was in the crosswalk going west across Sixth at B Street when the taxi hit her about 6:25 a.m. The male driver, 58, was turning south on Sixth from the left lane of westbound B Street.
Medics took the woman to a trauma center. Officers blocked the two left lanes of Sixth and of B at the intersection while they investigated.
