Introduction
The Exynos 2200 was expected to be unveiled in January 2022, like Samsung's earlier flagship mobile processors. The company historically unveils its new high-end chipsets not long before its latest flagship Galaxy S series is to be announced. The Exynos 2200 was officially launched on January 18, 2022. It's manufactured on Samsung's 4nm process.
The chipset succeeds the Exynos 2100. This was the first flagship processor since the Exynos 990 to not feature Samsung's custom Mongoose cores.
The Exynos 2200 will also be using off-the-shelf ARM CPU cores. It boasts a tri-cluster octa-core CPU. An integrated 5G modem is also present in addition to an advanced neural processing core and image signal processor.

Processor Cores
Samsung hasn't confirmed the frequencies of the cores that make up the Exynos 2200's tri-cluster octa-core CPU. It's believed that the Cortex-X2 core will be clocked at 2.8GHz, the 3x Cortex-A710 cores at 2.5GHz and 4x Cortex-A510 cores at 1.8GHz or 2GHz. This setup will enable the Exynos 2200 to provide a significant performance improvement compared to the Exynos 2100.
Graphics Processing Unit
The Exynos 2200 is the first chipset from Samsung to feature an AMD Radeon GPU. The chipset's Xclipse 920 GPU brings ray-tracing to mobile devices. It's considered a hybrid GPU that's positioned between mobile devices and gaming consoles. It supports Variable Rate Shading as well in addiiton to Andvanced Multi-IP Governor for improved power efficiency. The Xclipse 920 GPU might just demolish Apple's A14 Bionic in graphics performance.
Memory and Storage
Courtesy of its support for LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, the new Exynos 2200 chipset is capable of providing faster game loading, smoother frame rates and seamless multi-tasking.
Camera
Samsung's flagship mobile chipset for 2022 has support for 200-megapixel snesors. It can also capture 108-megapixel images at 30fps with 64+32-megapixel simultaneous image capture at 30fps. It's capable of recording video at 4K 120fps as well as 8K 30fps video with HDR10+. Video playback is supported for 8K 60fps and 4K 240fps videos.
5G Modem
The integrated 5G modem of the Exynos 2200 supports mmWave and sub-6GHz networks. It can reach theoretical download speeds of up to 10Gbps in the EN-DC mode, 7.35Gbps on mmWave and 5.1GBps on sub-6GHz 5G networks. Upload speeds on mmWave networks reach 3.67Gbps and 2.55Gbps on sub-6GHz networks.
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
According to Samsung, the new dual-core Neural Processing Unit in the Exynos 2200 provides twice the AI and machine learning performance compared to the Exynos 2100. This will ensure that AI and smart photography features will be even better than before.
