Earlier today, Google released the Android 15 Beta 3 update and announced that Android 15 has reached platform stability. This means the One UI 7 release, based on Android 15, is one step closer to being released to all the compatible Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

We expect Samsung to start the One UI 7.0 Beta Program sometime next quarter.

As Android 15 reaches platform stability, One UI 7 release gets closer

Google Android 15 Beta 3 Update Release Platform Stability

Google has released the Android 15 Beta 3 update with several bug fixes, performance improvements, and some new features. OEMs like Samsung usually accelerate the development of major software updates once a new version of Android reaches platform stability, as the operating system's underlying system behavior doesn't change after it reaches stability.

So, it is likely that Samsung will now accelerate the development of One UI 7.0. Looking at the company's track record, we can expect the One UI 7.0 Beta Program in the third quarter of this year and the stable One UI 7.0 release to happen in the fourth quarter.

If you have an eligible high-end Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab, or Galaxy Z series device, you can expect to be the first in the line to get the One UI 7.0 update. Then, the update will be released to mid-range Galaxy phones and tablets and then to entry-level smartphones and tablets.

The story continues after the video below.

Android 15 Beta 3 features and changes

According to 9To5Google's report, Android 15 Beta 3 brings a redesigned Wallpaper Editor. It shows wallpaper previews for both inner and outer displays on foldable phones. The detailed volume menu, which debuted with Android 15 Beta 2, can no longer be minimized after it is maximized. Moreover, the ‘Speakers and Displays' label in the extended volume control menu has been removed.

There is also a new feature called Adaptive Timeout. It turns off the phone's screen if you are not using it. The ‘Device & App Notifications' label in the Notifications section of the Settings app has been changed to ‘Notification Read, Reply, & Control.' The Circle To Search option in the Settings menu now has a more prominent placement in the UI Navigation section.

A new feature called Android Safe Browsing sends information about possible malicious apps and websites to Google for checking. This feature works without identifying you or your device.

The Pixel Launcher now has a setting that lets you show long app names on Pixel devices. Some people like to see the complete names of apps, while others don't. So, you can change the app launcher's behavior based on your preference. The Android 15 logo has been updated, and this new version of Android 15 doesn't display the ‘VanillaIceCream' codename in the system anymore.

Android 15 Beta 3 also brings a new screensaver that displays smart home device controls on the screen when it is charging. On this new screensaver, the clock appears in the top right corner, while the rest of the screen displays one-tap controls for your favorite smart home devices.

Some of these new features will likely be included in One UI 7.0 for Galaxy smartphones and tablets. Apart from these features, One UI 7.0 will bring several new Galaxy AI features and information about those features will likely be released with the One UI 7.0 Beta update. However, those AI features will be limited to recent high-end devices.
