Rural & Migrant Ministry, Inc., receives $1Million gift from Yield Giving Open Call
Rural & Migrant Ministry, Inc., is thrilled to announce that the Yield Giving Open Call and MacKenzie Scott have chosen to invest in RMM, and we are deeply honored to accept a $1 million gift. We believe that this support, in conjunction with our being chosen to partner with the Clinton Global Initiative late last year, positions RMM to be more strategic and effective in addressing the issues facing New York's farmworking and rural families.
RMM’s 40-plus-year history has given our organization deeply rooted experience in living and working in communities throughout rural New York. This financial gift is an affirmation of the diverse multitudes of people who have worked tirelessly to build RMM into a vital and effective force for change. We are committed to using this major gift to invest in strengthening the infrastructure and long-term vitality of our organization.
RMM is extremely grateful to the Yield Giving Open Call and MacKenzie Scott for their generosity and support, as we continue to live into our mission of standing with marginalized families and developing creative solutions to systemically entrenched problems.

Mission
Rural & Migrant Ministry works for the creation of a just, rural New York State through nurturing leadership, changing unjust systems and structures, and standing with the disenfranchised, especially farmworkers and rural workers.
Our Work
We put our mission into action through three main program areas: Accompaniment, Popular Education, and Youth Empowerment.
We believe that those who courageously fight for justice need others to accompany them in their quest. Through programs that speak truth to power and build up bases of power, RMM works for systemic change in rural New York.
Popular Education invites people to collectively learn from one another. Our Rural Academy of the People offers participatory educational programs as rural leaders develop their understandings and skills to work for systemic change
Young powerful leaders, who are committed to justice and inclusivity, are essential to the well-being of our rural communities. We offer a federation of creative programs that have a proven track record of identifying and nurturing new generations of leaders.
Our Centers
RMM operates four farmworker education centers around New York State in Western New York, Long Island, the Catskills and the Hudson Valley.
Spark Rural Worker Education Center in South Fallsburg (Catskills) is home to the Youth Economic Group, Bags For Justice (youth screen-printing Cooperative), Cociendo Culturas: Crafting Cultures (adult artisan cooperative), Youth Entrepreneurship Symposium and monthly community check-ins. Spark also serves as a gathering place for workers from the food processing plants that dot the landscape.
The Amandla Worker Education Center in Riverhead (Long Island) is home to an array of programs, including Consejo CASA (Center of Alliance, Solidarity, and Accompaniment), Mujeres de Esperanza/Women of Hope, VOLIY (Voices of Long Island Youth), Long Island Farmworker Cooperative, English as a New Language classes, Know Your Rights workshops, Spanish Literacy for adults, a youth Summer Day Program and more.
Liturgia Rural Worker Education Center in Lyons (Western New York) is home to JOY (Justice Organization of Youth), a youth Summer Day Program, the Rural Academy of the People, Farmworker Council and Las Chefs Latinas (a women-owned cooking cooperative).
Located in Cornwall-on-Hudson, The Grail is both home to RMM’s Hudson River region work and our central offices.
