As Halloween approaches, our thoughts turn to costumes, pumpkins, candy and all things spooky. But for pet parents, this season is about more than just the thrill of ghoulish decorations and ghostly tales. It’s an opportunity to deepen the bond with our four-legged companions and explore the mysterious, paranormal side of our connection with them.
In honor of the holiday, we’re encouraging pet parents to bond with their animal companions on a new level. And, after surveying 1,000 pet parents, Rover has uncovered some fascinating insights about the supernatural connections between pets and their humans.
A Strong Emotional, Intellectual, and Spiritual Connection
In a recent survey conducted by Rover, it was discovered that the connection between pets and pet parents goes beyond the physical realm. The majority (57%) of pet parents describe their connection with their pets as emotional, intellectual and spiritual. 96% of pet parents wish they knew for sure what their pet was thinking or feeling and 86% of pet parents have felt like they could read their pet’s mind at some point.
Believers in the Beyond
When it comes to the supernatural, pet parents are believers. The survey revealed that a staggering 80% of pet parents believe in paranormal activity, and 73% are convinced that their pet possesses a sixth sense or the ability to sense paranormal occurrences.
One in four (28%) pet parents would choose to communicate with a deceased pet if they could and 39% of pet parents would be likely to visit a pet psychic or medium to better communicate with a living, or passed, pet.
Pets as Predictors
Some pet parents have experienced moments where their pets seemed to possess an uncanny ability to predict events before they occurred. Sixty percent of those surveyed shared stories of their pets foreseeing events such as pregnancies, illnesses, or even unexpected weather phenomena. And, 91% of pet parents believe their pets can predict or sense their emotions.
It’s as if our furry friends have a connection to a mysterious, foretelling realm. A spooooooky GOOD dog!
Halloween Fun with Furry Friends
Rover’s previous research shows that regardless of how you celebrate Halloween is a big deal for pet parents. A whopping 79% of pet parents plan to dress their dogs in Halloween costumes and over half (54%) of pet parents intend to take their costumed companions trick-or-treating. A remarkable 70% of pet parents will have their dogs help greet trick-or-treaters at their own home and distribute Halloween candy at the door.
As the 2023 Halloween approaches, pet parents have a unique opportunity to delve into the supernatural aspects of their bond with their furry companions. And, Rover’s research has highlighted the strong emotional and spiritual connections that exist between pets and their humans.
So, this Halloween, dress up your pet, embrace the paranormal side of your relationship, and let your furry friend join in the spooky fun. After all, what’s Halloween without a little magic and mystery – even if it comes in the form of your beloved pet?
