Emily St. James Vox All American is an intriguing stew of teen soap tastes that taste great together. Oct 11, 2018 Full Review Natalie Autostraddle In a disappointing TV season, All American stands out as one of the fall's few bright spots, thanks in large part to the bond forged between Coop and Spencer. Oct 11, 2018 Full Review Kelly Lawler USA Today Watching "American" is like a class reunion: Comforting and nostalgic, but with a few surprises tucked up its sleeve. It's the kind of show that's easy to cheer for, even if its football team isn't that great yet. Rated: 3/4 Oct 11, 2018 Full Review Ja-Quan Greene Black Nerd Problems The show does a good job of taking advantage of the small joys and positive moments in a young person's life, and in particular, a young black man's life. Apr 28, 2020 Full Review Melissa Camacho Common Sense Media Football series addresses classism, racism, and bullying . Rated: 3/5 Oct 17, 2018 Full Review Sesali Bowen Refinery29 All American is, regardless, refreshingly Black... The interlocking politics of race, sports, and school is real and has been the subject of numerous documentaries, and this series dramatizes it effectively, if superficially. SkyRo P This movie has a lot of ups and downs, well this television series, it has a lot of moments to where you just feel like you are watching trash and then sometimes where you feel like you're watching gold I will say that season one definitely took me on a roller coaster and showed me interest in the television series based on the characters and their development and their journeys. It was very over-the-top, and Spencer himself was not a character. I enjoyed in season one I know the whole show is about him, but it just kind of threw me for a loop, how he acted his behaviors and just The road that he went down. I just wasn't a fan of that type of character. Season two allowed me to see a different side of him and allowed me to grow more with the series and see more of him, and what he is bringing to the table and how he becomes a better human and he actually grows with the series. Olivia and Jordan were great characters, and they brought a lot to the table and so did L. I still was not a fan of coop. Then season three I was really behind on. I wasn't a fan of that, and I wasn't really engaged in it, and I lost interest in the show altogether, started it, but never completed it, and then finally did, and just was like I kind of felt like it was the worst season of all of them, and it kind of just fell down. But then everything changed in season four everything started coming together. It started moving into a different direction, and it started building the expectations and the excitement of the series back up, it's like a roller coaster ride. It went all the way up to the top, fell down, and now it started climbing once again. But then there were season five that hit its pinnacle peak, it is so far above all the other seasons, that I am truly excited to see what comes next, especially after what happened to Billy, I am curious to see where they take this road and this adventure next. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/24 Full Review Leigh T These young actors are captivating. The main character (Spencer) is a brilliant actor. He has me convinced. I would love to see this for the next 10 years!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Jenn H Great series, the actors held my attention. Very entertaining series… Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/22/22 Full Review Audience Member Despite some predictability, the season sets solid groundwork for many layers of depth for its main cast. It feels like they only scratched the surface of certain characters and storyline potential, which keeps you interested and engaged. Episodes are meaty, and it's a long season. It also boasts gripping performances and a constantly untangling storyline is believable and takes-on real-world issue such as classism, race, and intersectionality. Great modern soap/sports-drama series. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member This is an amazing start up to a show and introduces the characters pretty well. It's entertaining and hypes you up in the end which makes you want to watch the next episode automatically so that you can then go into an endless cycle of watching. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Curtis C There's a lot to like in Season 1. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/15/21 Full Review Read all reviews
