Katie Walsh Los Angeles Times [It] has the aspiration to be a sex-drenched, naughty rich kids in Manhattan tale -- with an LGBT twist. With the good-looking cast, glitzy urbane setting, and entitled, showtunes-obsessed characters, it has the shiny surface to pull it off. May 11, 2016 Full Review Dennis Harvey Variety Joey Kuhn's feature debut is impressively polished, but its burnished surface is more highly worked than the unevenly satisfying drama beneath. May 11, 2016 Full Review David Rooney Hollywood Reporter It's a well-made, solidly acted first feature with an easy-on-the-eyes cast. May 11, 2016 Full Review Michael Cuby them. Equal parts charming and heart-wrenching, Those People was an incredibly promising debut, marking a true arrival for writer/director Joey Kuhn. Timothy D Those people is a rather basic love triangle with a few nuances along the way. I did not like how it cheapened the character who became the third wheel, but the treatment of other characters was touching. All in all, it's overly sentimental but has enough heart and drama to be enjoyable. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/27/23 Full Review Crescida J Beautiful acting and cinematography! Such a great script. I wish every movie about gay love got the nuance and beauty in the way these film makers did. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/29/23 Full Review Lawrence S I found it really interesting...........3 times in 1.25 hours. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member Outstanding film with a flawless cast, beautiful script, and phenomenal acting. We absolutely loved it Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Based off of others' comments and the trailer, I went into this movie expecting to come out full of emotion. I felt nothing. I didn't care about the characters, at all. While there is backstory behind Sebastian and Daniel's relationship, there is little to no history explaining why the main group of friends are even friends. In fact, I wasn't sure how they knew each other at all until almost the very end of the film. I also found the characters to be mostly unlikeable. Sebastian is a manipulative, histrionic bitch-baby with barely the excuse for his character flaws. Daniel is basically a blank-slate character with not much to delve into at all. His only character trait seems to be that of pining after the wrong people. All-in-all, the plot was boring, the ending didn't make sense and wasn't nearly as emotional, dramatic or exciting as it was clearly meant to be and I don't recommend this film. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member Much better than I was expecting. Beginning was a little slow, but it's worth waiting through. Before you know it you'll be involved with the characters. Really good acting. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews
