Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald It's strong meat - or it would be if the Christies looked and behaved like a family instead of a disparate group of actors brought together in the expectation that some miracle will arise to produce riveting drama. Jul 10, 2008 Full Review Marc Fennell Triple J Ten Empty is an exhausting film. But it doesn't offer anything back. Aug 31, 2008 Full Review Urban Cinefile Critics Urban Cinefile Performances are great, but they are restrained by the writing. Consequently the film ends up more like a workshop for actors than a satisfying drama for audiences. I am not even sure who those audiences are... Jul 2, 2008 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member A film which takes itself much too seriously for its own good, and which sabotages our ability to take it seriously with frequent scenes of high melodrama. It's a shame, too, because there's potential for an emotionally affecting drama here. In its attempt to confront the effects of mental illness on families, it is ultimately maudlin and depressing in itself. It has its moments, and the ending lifts it, but as a whole it doesn't amount to much. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member A piece of Australian shit. Watching 10 minutes of this was a major ordeal Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member It's rare that I walk out on a film, but I got about halfway through and realised that it just wasn't working for me. I felt it had difficulty deciding whether it was a dark comedy or just a drama. Maybe I'll try it again one day. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member 19/07/2008 2.45 Potent and gritty narrative that successfully mines its territory examining the male psyche in modern surburban Australia. Fine performances from all involved. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member A very raw and powerful film. Both gentle and wrenching at the same time. I am glad I came across this Australian indie film, definitely a must see. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member I cried the whole way through this movie. I thought it was very touching. Australian film making at it's best, tackling the very real issue of depression and how it's handled within a family.
