Felix Vasquez Jr. Cinema Crazed While the special effects are really good, and the directing is decent, this just ends up becoming a really bad movie botching a really good concept... Apr 29, 2009 Full Review Anton Bitel Film4 The creature, a rather underwhelming specimen of plant life with glowing red CGI eyes, is only a little more wooden than the film's human characters. Austin S Just simply not enough Man Thing and he was ultimately the bad guy when he's supposed to be a good guy Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/24/24 Full Review matthias s **Title: "Man-Thing: Swamped by Missed Potential"** As a Marvel fan, "Man-Thing" was a disappointing adaptation that left much to be desired. Directed by Brett Leonard, the film tries to bring the enigmatic swamp creature to life but stumbles along the way. The story centers on Sheriff Kyle Williams (Matthew Le Nevez) investigating strange disappearances in Bywater Swamp. The setting is appropriately eerie, and the practical effects for Man-Thing are decent. However, the creature appears too infrequently, leaving fans wanting more. The movie's pacing is slow, bogged down by flat characters and awkward dialogue. Even with a potentially intriguing environmental message, the execution is heavy-handed and detracts from the horror elements. Despite the atmospheric swamp and a few moments of tension, "Man-Thing" ultimately feels like a missed opportunity. Hardcore Marvel enthusiasts might find some enjoyment, but for most, it’s a lackluster entry that fails to deliver the thrills and depth expected from the source material. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/24/24 Full Review Derek L Brett Leonard's take on Marvel Comic's swamp monster Man Thing ended up being a rather boring adaptation that failed to provide anything horrific along with its dull story, characters and poor acting from its cast. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/19/24 Full Review Liam D An generic monster movie which would he already but it's based on one of Marvel's most underrated characters is insulting and a huge disappointment from Director Brett Leonard (Virtuosity, T-Rex: Back to the Cretaceous) Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/29/24 Full Review James B The movie is slow and the actors are nobody but the man thing design is unique and I kind of like it Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/27/23 Full Review Richard R In my opinion one of the worst movies ever.
