What to Know

Critics Consensus

Angelina Jolie is perfect for the role of Lara Croft, but even she can't save the movie from a senseless plot and action sequences with no emotional impact.

Chris Stuckmann ChrisStuckmann.com Lara Croft: Tomb Raider is incredibly silly. So silly in fact, that you just have to respect it. Feb 3, 2016 Full Review Nell Minow Common Sense Media Some great action sequences, but not much else. Rated: 2/5 Dec 29, 2010 Full Review Jonathan Rosenbaum Chicago Reader [A] movie based on a video game that's unafraid to look absurd but lacks the self-conviction needed to come off as camp. Apr 12, 2010 Full Review Dan DiNicola The Daily Gazette (Schenectady, NY) A thoroughly numb and insulting excuse for an adventure. Rated: D- Apr 30, 2024 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy Where's the quickening of the pulse, the racing of the heart, the holding of the breath? With Lara Croft Tomb Raider, the most a viewer can expect is the numbing of the brain and the closing of the eyelids. Rick M Crazy, but awesome. And Angelina Jolie is the only one who could pull this movie off. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/10/24 Full Review Georgan G 3 & 1/4 stars. A solid action, adventure film starring the terrific Angelina Jolie. A very young Daniel Craig shows off his body but doesn't have many lines. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/10/24 Full Review Aiden P Unfortunately terrible. Based off the popular game series "Tomb Raider" you see throughout the movie a terrible rendition of it. Lara Croft comes across senseless and dry, not coming close to fulfilling the character combined with bad writing creates an overall bad recreation of a good idea. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/30/24 Full Review Demrakus H This movie absolutely sucks donkey testicles. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/24 Full Review Spike G Oof this was not good Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/02/23 Full Review Michael G What a blast! This is what the magic of movie making is all about! Such a good, comforting, entertaining, action packed adventure that is being offered to the viewer with this blockbuster. They don't make movies like this anymore. Fans of the original Core Design Tomb Raider games agree that Angelina Jolie is the personification of Lara Croft. Here I'd like to thank Angelina Jolie for not disappointing us fans. This film will always be in my heart and even after some 30+ re-watchings make me feel like a kid. Amaaaaazing plot, soundtrack, cinematography, acting skills, filmed locations, special effects, mood. The only disappointing thing about this film is that time goes by so quickly and you'll still want more. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews
