Critics Consensus

Although somewhat lackadaisical in pace, Jackie Brown proves to be an effective star-vehicle for Pam Grier while offering the usual Tarantino wit and charm.

Kevin Maher Times (UK) ... A beautifully modulated portrait of the limits and the last resorts of middle age. Dec 4, 2023 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian Maybe posterity will crown Jackie Brown as his best film and maybe not. Either way it shows that mainstream plotting and noir romance are yet more movie styles that Tarantino can fabricate: brilliantly. Rated: 5/5 Sep 15, 2022 Full Review Michael Wilmington Chicago Tribune A twisty comedy of betrayal and greed. Rated: 3.5/4 Feb 4, 2019 Full Review Don Shanahan Every Movie Has a Lesson Even though this film pushes past two-and-a-half hours, the forward direction of the plot keeps things moving with minimal repeat. This movie exudes coolness on every level. Rated: 5/5 Sep 4, 2023 Full Review John Brhel Vague Visages While Jackie Brown does revel in nostalgia and feature its fair share of firearms, it’s a much more subdued, nuanced and mature film than any of Tarantino’s previous works, or any other production within his entire filmography. Jun 5, 2023 Full Review Brian Rowe InSession Film Jackie Brown is an outstanding drama, and is the film I believe to be Quentin Tarantino’s most lasting masterpiece. Vale a pena conferir. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/01/24 Full Review Javi _ A bit weakness in some part of scripts, but everything else was god damn good. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/29/24 Full Review Scott M Finally watched this movie after 28 years of putting it off because I just didn't think I'd like it. Well, I didn't really like it. It's okay. Solid acting and a solid bit of directing by Tarantino. However, the story was dull. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 07/21/24 Full Review Alec C Tarantino's most entertaining movie. A textbook example of how to adapt a great novel into a great film. The chemistry between Jackie Brown and the bail bondsman is fantastic. If this movie is on television, I stop everything I'm doing and watch it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/18/24 Full Review Luke L This is a great movie with a strong female lead who uses her intellect to come out on top of a bad situation she gets herself into. This is Terrantino at some of his best. A definite much watch if you want to see how to write a good female lead character. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/13/24 Full Review Read all reviews
