After years of working as an ad executive at a sports magazine, Dan Foreman (Dennis Quaid) is demoted and replaced with Carter Duryea (Topher Grace), a rising star in the business world who is young enough to be Dan's son. Carter's business style leaves Dan shaking his head and wondering if the young man is ready for the corporate world. Dan's life is further complicated when he learns his wife is pregnant and Carter is dating his daughter, Alex (Scarlett Johansson).

This came on while I was making dinner, the actors made it sound interesting enough so I decided to give it a go from the start. A light but fleshed out story with convincing characters in awkward situations make it watchable throughout but you're ready for it to end with about 15 minutes left.

I love this movie. If you don't get it, don't get married. I was 48 in 2004, so I identify with Dennis Quaid's character. I worked for a large corporation, that was totally screwed by a private equity firm, so I think it's an accurate portrayal of modern corporations.

Loved Topher Grace. That is really the only good thing I can say about this movie. It was slow and predictable, and it seriously felt like they accidentally "left out" the ending. One of the worst endings ever. Left me wondering how everything turned out for everyone in the movie. Very disappointing.
