The South Livonia United Church of Christ is hosting another SLUCC Community Free Luncheon. This will happen every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each Month. Starts at 12Noon and runs to 2PM. Our Church is located at 5087 South Livonia Road, Livonia, NY 14487. Our next Luncheon is happening on Tuesday July 23, 2024. The Menu this week will be a Cold Plate. Join us for a travelogue about Southern England Gardens and the Chelsea Flower Show with Ken and Judy Harbison! Ken and Judy took a tour with a Road Scholar to 12 diverse gardens in Southern England. The evolution of English garden designs and styles of famous garden designers were emphasized. The tour leader had connections that allowed us into gardens that are rarely open to the public. Fleeting is an exhibition of works made by 2023-2024 Printmaking & Book Arts artists-in-residence Michaela Chan, Cronan Saint Ronan Kobylak, and Gwyneth Zeleny Anderson. Michaela gives the story of Syzygy. Unlike leaves, Syzygy curves away from the sun. Cronan's work features a queer perspective of the catholic aesthetic meets paganism, folklore meets folk art, and an easily digestible visual body of the occult. Gwyneth playfully explores the impermanence and discomfort of everyday human experience. Her prints depict spillage, cartoonishness, and relatability of living in a body. The third exhibition in collaboration with Flower City Arts Center in Gallery Obscura features works by high school student artists committed to pursuing careers in the arts. The photographic works in Pass Us the Mic: We’ve Got Something to Say are self-portraits that exemplify the genre. The works by the fifteen student artists in Flower City Arts Center Expanding the Field after-school program are complex, layered statements about the artists and their views of the world.
