Hagar, 76, is known as the Red Rocker and he grew up in Fontana. The musician and songwriter was inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Van Halen in 2007.
The city-owned venue, at 8463 Sierra Ave., originally opened in 1937 and has been home to a movie theater and the former Center Stage Theater, before closing in 2022 for a major renovation.
In a social media video posted earlier this month, Hagar declared of Stage Red: “I’m proud to be part of it. I’m proud to have my name involved. And I’m proud to be from Fontana.”
