Grab sunscreen, goggles and a beach towel and get ready to dive into swim season at several Inland Empire parks.

San Bernardino County parks christened the summer swim season with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, May 24, at Glen Helen Regional Park, home to new rodeo-themed waterslides and a splashpad, as well as new restrooms, picnic shelters and more.

County parks offers swimming at Glen Helen, 2555 Glen Helen Parkway in San Bernardino; Yucaipa Regional Park, 33900 Oak Glen Road in Yucaipa; and Lake Gregory Regional Park, 24171 Lake Drive in Crestline. The pool is closed at Cucamonga-Guasti Regional Park, 800 N. Archibald Ave. in Ontario, but the splash pad is open.

Swim complex hours at the Glen Helen and Yucaipa parks are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Memorial Day, and continue weekends through June 9. Beginning June 11, swim hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday until the end of the season.

Admission to the parks is $8 per vehicle Monday-Friday and $10 per vehicle on weekends and holidays. Swimming ranges from $7 to $17 for those over age 3. Children under age 3 may swim at no cost.

State parks with lakes in San Bernardino and Riverside counties, meanwhile, offer a variety of ways to enjoy the water, including swimming and boating.

In Riverside County, Lake Perris State Recreation Area, managed by the state parks department, offers two swimming areas and permits boating.

Silverwood Lake Park in San Bernardino County also offers swimming, surfing and fishing.
