Above and beyond: Here are New Paltz's scholar athletes for 2023-24

The Mid-Hudson Athletic League recently honored its top senior student-athletes for each high school. New Paltz High School selected Kalista Birkenstock and Alex McAteer.

Here are their profiles:

Addison MacDonald

GPA: 100.7

Class Rank:  3

Varsity Sports: Soccer; Lacrosse

Academic Honors/Extracurricular Activities: National Honor Society 

Athletic Honors: Two-time Team Captain; Section IX Class A All-Star; Section IX Elite 11 Finalist

Community Service: Organized a cereal drive; collected and donated cereal boxes at Lenape Elementary

Future Plans: Union College, to major in Neuroscience and play soccer

Academic Honors/Extracurricular Activities: Valedictorian; National Honor Society; Mathletes President

Athletic Honors: Cross Country Captain; Indoor Track and Field Distance Captain; Varsity athlete since 10th grade

Community Service: Volunteer tutoring for gifted middle-school students

Future Plans: Stanford University, to major in Math and plans to join the Cross Country/Track Club
