Trauma, when treated with respect, compassion and deep presence, can helps us restore a sense of wholeness about ourselves.
Have you found that talk therapy has not always met your needs? Working with the nervous system holistically through mindfulness, somatic experiencing, breathing exercises and other specialized tools offers us gentler and more effective means to heal. Therapy is a unique opportunity to be vulnerable and learn to experience a healthy relationship with a foundation of trust and compassionate experience. A diagnosis is not necessary, in my professional opinion, to work through the issues "in the tissues". It's about freeing the weight of the past & future anxieties, so you can feel calmer and enjoy life. (Telehealth also available.)

Whether you suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, relationship troubles, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, therapy can help.
You deserve to be happy. No matter what has happened, or where you've been. We all have troubles, and we all need a little help sometimes. I am here to help you figure things out. You hold the key to getting better. You know yourself better than anyone, but sometimes when we're close to an issue it's hard to see the bigger picture or the best solutions. We will work together in a safe, non-judgmental space.

Normal is a setting on a dryer. We are all unique and valid individuals with vast minds. We all have different situations and I believe in using those pieces to heal and build strength. While I specialize in trauma, addiction, and mood, our struggles are usually not that one note or simple. I focus on all aspects of who you and where you want to be, building a strong relationship based on empathy, trust and non judgement. Life is rough, we lose sight of our way, stop seeing the beauty, forget who we are, feel stuck or changed. It takes courage to be vulnerable and reality is we are imperfectly perfect.

Relationships can get tricky at times, and when it becomes too difficult to figure out how to resolve it, seeing a professional trained to help couples and families can be very helpful. Trauma from our past can also affect present romantic, platonic and/or professional relationships. I believe that I am the counselor to help you address those issues and/or concerns if you are ready. It is important for me to let you to know that I will never force an issue to be discussed that you do not feel comfortable discussing.

I specialize in helping clients heal from trauma and dissociative conditions. I often see clients who have found that prior therapy did not go deep enough or that they can talk about their issues but remain stuck in the same unhealthy patterns. I help clients get beneath words and to transform the deeper feelings and emotions that are driving such patterns. I also have considerable experience working with loss, chronic illness, depression and anxiety, career and relationship transitions, questions of identity/purpose, relationship conflict, and navigating academic and creative work.

My clients are adults and adolescents who tend to identify themselves as highly sensitive, perfectionistic, and self-critical. They often feel intense emotions and have active minds that always seem to be "on". Using strengths-based, solution-focused, and mindfulness approaches, I help individuals learn to step back and notice their thoughts and feelings rather than be controlled by them. In addition to alleviating the symptoms of anxiety, depression, and trauma, these skills allow people to connect with their values and pursue what's important to them.

Many people with trauma or PTSD also suffer from substance use issues . Feelings of anxiety, fear, anger, grief, depression, loneliness, feeling judged, and misunderstood are very normal. You may not trust the world around you and may not know how to cope with symptoms of trauma alone and will instead seek to numb your emotional turmoil. Both are lonely and isolating issues. Substance use is an outward manifestation of your pain and with supportive trauma and substance use counseling combined, your addiction can be treated as well as the underline symptoms that cause the need to numb your emotions and avoid your reality.

Hello, I'm Jade Mueller PhD and I'm honored to share my experiences with people who've been helped by the practice of psychology. They may have a feeling of loss, guilt, despair, anger or fear. They may be in the midst of a crisis of trauma, family disruption, chronic illness, aging or abuse. Together we look at all of it with 'kind eyes' and without judging. Often we can identify patterns, beliefs and experiences to heal or release that have led to setbacks in the past. They want support in developing or recovering their joy, confidence, self-worth and personal strengths. Clients can evolve toward their own vision of wholeness.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
