Have you ever been told or wondered if you're "too sensitive" or "too emotional?" As if this is a shameful thing? I'll take a wild guess and say that hearing this probably doesn't help in feeling "less" emotional. This can be such a bind – maybe intense emotions/behaviors make things harder. However, a sense of acceptance, whether it comes from within or from loved ones, can profoundly support in feeling understood, safe, and resilient. And these more subtle feelings can absolutely assist in the pursuit of making necessary changes in emotional expression & related behaviors, impact on relationships, and presence day-to-day.

The therapist-client relationship is like nothing else in the world. As the client, you should feel unconditionally supported and safe when you’re working with me. I’m East coast-raised which has influenced me to take a very direct and honest approach to how I show up as a therapist. If you’re looking to be challenged, you found the right therapist! My style is all about drawing from Existentialism, which is based on the belief that we’re each responsible for creating purpose and meaning in our own lives. What is within your control and what is out of your hands? How can you learn to tolerate the uncertainty around you?

Life can be isolating at times. This is especially true when you add in ADHD, PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, chronic illness, and Queerness, cultural, and relationship issues. We hold so many identities and struggles that influence who we are and how we move through our place in the world. It is essential to find yourself among those identities and move into the whole version of yourself that finds comfort in the here and now. This includes finding your community and support through all that life throws at us. As a therapist, I move through sessions with a person-centered, feminist, and multicultural lens.

My clients are often facing transitions that may leave them feeling alone or unlike themselves. By creating a nonjudgmental space where they can feel seen and understood, I help my clients discover what is most important to them so that they can find more ease in their lives. Therapeutic sessions will be tailored to clients' individual needs. I prioritize using a strengths-based approach, along with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and similar modalities. In therapy, clients often learn that their current coping strategies, even those that are harmful, have served a purpose.

There comes a time when we are forced to meet ourselves, hard as we might try to avoid it. It can happen for different reasons and during different life stages. Maybe you’re experiencing a big change that’s bringing everything up all at once, or perhaps you’re realizing the mask you’ve been wearing doesn’t quite fit right anymore. What you’ve always done is no longer working for you, and the new things you’ve tried so far aren't cutting it. And while you feel ready for change, the path forward feels messy, confusing, and overwhelming.
