Most of my clients are people who first healed these wounds through overachievement & overcompensation, but overlooked the limitations that came with these coping mechanisms. Counseling provides a means to healing. I specialize in treating clients who are at least 6 years old through adults. Children may face difficulties with anger management, bullying, physical aggression; difficulties in school, with peers or family members; and defiance. Issues for others may include but not limited to building coping skills for parenting, anxiety, depression, anger, grief, divorce/separation, teen pregnancy, domestic violence, physical/sexual abuse; sexual assault, P.T.S.D., relationship issues, communication skills, and conflict resolution. I work with youth and adults individually, as couples, and/or families.

I completed my Master's Degree in Agency Counseling from the University of Nebraska in Kearney in 1987. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. I trained in cognitive therapy and in the Gottman Couple's Method (I completed Levels 1 & 2). I use the Gottman Couples Method in relationship and marriage counseling. Doctors John and Julie Gottman conceptualize a healthy relationship as a "Sound Relationship House" with seven floors that need attention throughout a relationship history.

From my perspective, if you wake up every morning and breathe in and out all day long, you're dealing with your stuff. A tiny bit of intention is all it takes to begin healing.

With more than 25 years of experience as a Clinician and Counselor, I possess an extensive track record of compassionate and change-oriented care across both the military and private sectors. Throughout my career, I have developed a varied counseling and advisory experience, serving a wide range of populations, including Soldiers, Veterans, first responders, adolescents, and parents.
