Most people who come to therapy are trying either to deal with a symptom-depression, anxiety, stress, etc.- or they are struggling with some relationship, or even struggling with oneself- one's own history, or a bad habit. People naturally develop strategies to deal with life, but sometimes what worked before isn't working anymore. A good therapist is always committed 100% to your best interest. Once I have earned your trust, it becomes easier to accept a new idea, a new approach, or a new strategy. Sometimes all it takes is a new perspective.

We are often challenged by relationship and career issues as we attempt to establish a more coherent sense of ourselves through love and work.
I am a licensed psychologist in the Central Austin area. I have vast experience counseling adolescent and adult clients in individual, couples and family therapy. This experience has shown me that individuals can learn to cope with life's problems more efficiently and effectively. Therapy is a life-enriching process that often helps people become more attuned to themselves, others and the environment such that life feels more meaningful and coherent.

I help ambitious women gain clarity and empowerment through their mental health struggles. I work with the woman dealing with relationship issues, anxiety, trauma, and body image dissatisfaction. The truth is, I’m more like you than you can imagine. I know life can be hard. But that’s where courage comes in to attend therapy.

Having you feel heard, accepted and validated is a primary focus in building our therapeutic relationship.
Life is complex and at various transitional times life can become confusing. In counseling, the integration of our conflicting emotions is at the heart of who we are and how we struggle. It is equally important that you feel safe, valued and respected as we develop our therapeutic relationship. Together we will explore and validate your true authentic self; develop skills to confront life's challenges and embrace the joys; delve into your feelings and emotions with understanding and acceptance. Finding your voice, understanding your emotions and choosing behaviors that reflect yourself at best will weave our therapeutic relationship together.

Many people experience shame about their relationship preferences, kinks, and sexual orientation.
Hello and Welcome! My name is Julia and I am a licensed professional counselor and certified sex therapist with Respark Therapy & Associates. I have lived in Austin for almost my entire life and it has been a dream of mine to become a therapist since I was about 11 years old. Sexual health discussions have never made me uncomfortable in any way, and I like to provide a safe space for clients to discuss these topics.

That could mean your relationship with your friends, family, and loved ones; it can also mean a relationship to substance(s), your career, and most importantly with yourself.
Since starting in the field of mental health and recovery, I have worked in a variety of settings. My journey consists of working in inpatient psychiatric hospitals, addiction treatment facilities, family agencies, and even worked a number of years as a nanny. Working in addiction treatment has always been a passion of mine, as my family has struggled with addiction for most of my young adult life. I love having the opportunity to provide families and loved ones with education on addiction and recovery, as well as a sense of hope that their family can truly thrive.

My approach places our relationship at the center of the process in service of discovering the ways in which the past is present so you can release old patterns and heal.
You don't want to live this way anymore. In the depth of your being you know there is more to life and more to love than what you have been feeling. You no longer want to numb your reality with 80 hour work weeks, superficial relationships, drugs, alcohol, or shopping. You are ready to listen to the voice calling out from that pit of internal emptiness. You are ready to step fully into life. And as you take this first step on the path back to your essential nature, I would be honored to walk alongside you and support you in your journey to reconnect with yourself, with your life, and with your purpose.

Hi there. First, I'd like to wish you well -- especially as you work with a psychotherapist. In the 10+ years that I've been practicing, I've learned that each person and each relationship is unique, so I've developed a variety of ways to approach psychotherapy and relationship therapy that help individuals to heal and help couples to relate. By working with thoughts and feelings, with mind and with heart, people can move through what is in the way, blocking them from feeling better and being better. I'm absolutely honored to help with that movement.

I’m sure you’re tired of the therapist search by now; every profile looks and sounds the same! Ughh. It's a lot. What are you looking for in a therapist (aside from whether or not they have experience with your needs)? For me, it starts with the relationship, the vibe, the energy - which can be tough to convey in a Psych Today profile or website. During consults & intakes I often hear, “my last therapist was nice BUT...” - they didn’t “get it”, "we didn't click" etc. If this sounds like you, we may be a great fit to work together!

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
