My areas of expertise are trauma, family of origin concerns, parent coaching, anxiety and depression.
Hello! My name is Leah and I use she/her pronouns. I’ve been a practicing clinical social worker for over 10 years. I would describe my therapeutic approach as warm and collaborative with a focus on building safe and inclusive spaces that encourage curiosity, creativity, and insight. I believe in the importance of choice to establish a foundation on which clients can engage in therapy as their authentic selves and I value humor and transparency along the way.

Whether you're a disconnected couple, family struggling with conflict, or an individual trying to navigate past wounds, I can help you foster connection, improve communication, and enhance understanding across these different types of relationships.
Are you struggling with connection and intimacy in your relationships? Do you feel misunderstood and frustrated after conversations with your loved ones? Disconnection in our relationships can leave us feeling isolated and lonely - even when our loved one is sitting right next to us. I am skilled at helping others heal their “relational wounds", strengthening their connection and understanding of themselves and other important people in their lives. Counseling with me can be described as a journey to heal past wounds. The best part is, this kind of work isn't just for couples, but also for parents, families, or individuals.

It takes a village to create the life that you want for your child. You want the best for them and only look to trusted professionals for guidance on their needs. As someone who comes from a Hispanic family (with LOTS of nieces and nephews), I know firsthand the importance of open communication and trust building as you seek assistance for them. No matter what the concern is, my primary (and ongoing) goal is to gain your family's trust. I value creating a comfortable environment for families to express their needs through any stage of the counseling process. My specialties include working with children and teens diagnosed

I specializes in the treatment of Performance Enhancement, PTSD, Eating Disorders, Substance Abuse, Anxiety, Depression, Couples and Family Therapy, Cross Cultural issues Work life balance, Wellness and Womens' issues.
People tell me they are initially drawn to my warmth, authenticity, and positive nature, but what keeps them coming back are the results they attain. One of my abilities is to see peoples "best self", their potential, and to mirror it back to them in a way that supports them to take action.
My goal is to create an inviting and non-judgemental environment in which to explore and actively pursue your emotional, personal, and professional growth. Providing a balance between support and challenge, we work collaboratively to identify patterns that are no longer useful and to develop strategies for change.

Are you grappling with the impacts of a loss, medical diagnosis, or trauma? Loss is common to the human experience, but when it stems from the death of a loved one or a cancer diagnosis, it can be especially isolating and overwhelming. You’re asking big questions: Will I always feel like this? Is this normal? When will my suffering end? And despite trying therapy in the past or talking to your friends and family, it’s felt like no one has truly understood your experience. You’re craving warmth, safety, and radical unconditional regard—somewhere all of your emotions, questions, and fears can be freely shared and expressed.

Our early years have a big impact on how we operate as adults. Our ways of being and personal struggles can often be traced back to our family of origin. How you were parented, the role you played in your family, the defenses you learned to get by or survive – these stay with you and inform how you operate in the world and in your relationships. Whatever your own history may have been, there's a place for what you learned and how you adapted; after all, it’s gotten you this far. But some of those early lessons have outlasted their usefulness and no longer serve you, leading to anxiety, depression, or chronic disconnection.

Or will I ever feel like myself? It all can feel overwhelming! As your therapist, I will walk with you as you process these changes to heal, grow, and empower yourself.

EMDR and interpersonal neuroscience, along with attachment theory and family systems lend a variety of approaches to assist you.
The relationships we've had throughout our life shape the way we view ourselves and others. Early life experiences impact us in many ways. We can benefit by examining these influences in a safe space. Many of my clients describe their youth as challenging or traumatic and some have experienced physical, sexual or emotional abuse. As a result, anxiety, depression or ptsd arise, and our relationship with self and others may suffer. I would like to offer hope & healing. Your symptoms make sense and you are stronger than you think. Let me provide a safe relationship to explore what's ailing you and find solutions for change.

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
