In Letters to a Young Poet, Rainer Maria Rilke wrote, “For one human being to love another is perhaps the most difficult task of all, the epitome, the ultimate test. It is that striving for which all other striving is merely preparation.” His writing speaks to the immense psychological importance of our closest relationships. Partnering with another can be a wellspring of immense joy, and just as easily, can induce some of our greatest heartaches and challenges. I understand that couples need more than a good listener to help them navigate their way to healing. They need someone who can guide them toward reconnection and growth.
My work with couples involves the integration of many well researched therapeutic interventions. Drawing from Gottman Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and my broader background as a clinical psychologist, I help couples understand, change, and grow in communication, in emotional connection, and in how they create love and vibrance in their relationship.
Through the lens of a couples therapist, I will guide you in creating a compassionate relational space that fosters the growth of each individual and of the relationship. As a psychologist, I also can address mental health, physical health, addiction, or other stressors. Together we will work to create a more vibrant and rewarding relationship.
