My job is to work with you to teach you the skills and tools to manage your own mental health and well being, identify when you may be lapsing and to prevent relapse, I can do this by supporting you to identify why you are feeling the way you feel and why.
I work with clients from the age of 8+ years as life is just so hectic, and young people need more support. Life can get on top of us; we're just not getting the enjoyment we used to get; perhaps we are struggling to cope and need to get back on track. I can support you and teach you tools that will put you back on track and keep you there so you can maintain your mental well-being. Often, people go to therapy and feel good. However, once they leave, they return to feeling bad again. My job as your therapist is to look at what works for you and teach you how to maintain good mental health for life.

I believe that the most important relationship we will have over our lifetime is the relationship that we have with ourselves. Throughout our lives we can come to conclusions about ourselves and others that cause us to feel insecure with who we are and around others. My job as a therapist and life coach is to provide a talking space for you to figure out what is holding you back from achieving the relationships and lifestyle you deserve. The more we understand who we really are, the easier it becomes to truly and deliberately create the life we desire.

Thereby it’s my job to understand your perspective and the individual factors that are contributing to your concerns.
Life is complex - as are we! It’s no surprise then that in our modern, frenetic world many of us may feel overwhelmed or less able to cope than ever before. Feelings of being ‘stuck’, distressed, anxious or unhappy can happen to anyone. If this sounds familiar, then perhaps it’s time for you to start prioritising your own emotional wellbeing.

I find the Person-Centred Approach fits my own philosophy as it has at its very core, an unshakable belief that all people are good. Person-Centred counselling believes that each and every person can, and will, become a more fully functioning person if given the correct conditions. The underpinning principles of the Person- Centred Approach are focused on the counsellor being honest, non-judgmental and fully accepting whilst being fully integrated in the relationship allowing the client to lead and set the pace. I aim to offer these conditions as best as I can during our relationship.

Does life constantly feel overwhelming? Do you have past or present trauma that seems to affect everything you think or do? Do you feel like your partner never listens to or understands you? Or does it feel like they just don’t care about you or your needs at all? These are all common experiences for individuals and couples. The good news is, there is hope and help. I can help you work through your trauma so it does not affect you constantly. I can teach you and your partner how to communicate more effectively so that you can meet each other’s needs and get back to that loving place you were in at the start of the relationship.

My name is Craig and I'm a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist from South Lanarkshire but based in Glasgow. If you give me the opportunity I'd like us to work together to provide the help you need, to uncover why you are feeling this way and then to find the solutions that you can use going forward in your everyday life. Taking the first step in therapy is never easy but just by reading this today you have taken that step. I have an office in Rutherglen/Shawfield that is easily accessible from the motorway. I understand the thought of calling someone new is daunting so if you would prefer then you could email to make first contact.

I work with clients (aged 16+) in-person and online. Working online means I’m able to help people across the UK & worldwide. Career Guidance Counsellors

How do I know if I need career counselling?

Determining whether a career counsellor is needed involves assessing one's current career and identifying what changes can be made to improve one's overall quality of life. In particular, feelings of loss of motivation, fatigue, anxiety, depression, procrastination, or ongoing levels of high stress can all be indicative of a need for career-related counselling. In addition, individuals changing jobs may want the decision-making support or self-reflection opportunities provided by a career counsellor.

Who can benefit from career counselling?

Anyone can benefit from the self-reflection, skill development, and stress management techniques that career counselling can provide. However, individuals who are feeling overwhelmed or burnt out with their current job and individuals considering a major career change may particularly benefit from career counselling to improve their wellbeing. Additionally, individuals who are facing issues in their current job, such as coworker relationship challenges or not meeting performance goals, may benefit from the perspective that a career counsellor can provide. College-age or young professionals may also uniquely benefit from career counselling as they make key decisions surrounding education and job training that will impact their career trajectory.

How long does career counselling typically last?

The length of career counselling can vary greatly depending on the needs of the individual and what type of support they are seeking Career coaching or advising services—which serve clients in a specific, goal-oriented capacity—often last for a shorter duration and are sometimes only a single session or a few sessions in length. In contrast, career counselling as part of a more integrative therapeutic relationship with a counsellor may last longer, particularly if the issues faced by the client are longstanding and/or more complex in nature; in such cases, individuals may expect therapy to last multiple months or longer.

How to prepare for career counselling?

Clients can prepare for career counselling sessions by outlining the specific topics they would like to address with the counsellor, such as current job challenges or hopes for the future of their career. Compiling one's thoughts on such topics often requires reflection on one's career and future goals, which in itself can be beneficial for session preparation. Clients may also want to put together a list of questions they would like to ask the counsellor, particularly if the career counsellor they are seeing has particular expertise in a given career area. Conducting research into potential future jobs, training opportunities, or support resources in one's area may also help clients prepare for career counselling by providing them with a background of what resources are available in their area.
