As human beings we are innately resilient, but at times we may need support to unearth healthy coping mechanisms and personal strengths, and to allow the space for healing to take place. I offer counselling to individuals who are experiencing feelings of anxiety, depression, relationship issues, difficulty regulating emotions, and have experienced trauma. My passion lies in supporting clients to gain a deeper understanding of their experience and to have increased access to a sense of safety, connectedness with others and with themselves, aliveness, joy, and to the wonderful experience of feeling secure within relationships.

When I meet with clients my priority is to give them a space of non-judgement and compassion, where their thoughts and feelings can be heard, cared for, and understood. Together we can untangle where you might be feeling stuck, and map out a path forward to bring you to a new understanding of yourself and the challenges you are facing. There are many reasons clients come to see me and some of these concerns include: anxiety, depression, boundaries, grief, trauma, self-esteem, family of origin and relationship issues.

Despite the value of compassion it is viewed by some as "weakness" or even "not trying hard enough." My goal is to help you and your family discover how compassion can enable you to strengthen your emotional intelligence, personal well-being, and relationships. My compassion-focused approach aims to teach you how to be open to and tolerate painful feelings and develop self-understanding and inner wisdom to know how to deal with life's challenges. This is particularly helpful to adults who have personal struggles linked to shame and self-criticism and those who have experienced childhood trauma or tragedy later in life.

Life can present us with unexpected challenges- family conflict, relationship difficulties, parenting concerns, or haunting past experiences- that can leave us feeling trapped, depressed, anxious, and unhappy in all sorts of ways. While stress is a normal part of the human experience, we don't need to be ruled by it. My passion lies in helping individuals navigate through these difficult thoughts, painful self-defeating beliefs, and experiences. I aim to empower you to take action and reconnect with the things that hold true value in your life.

Accepting new clients for August/September 2024. Safety, predictability, trust, worth, and belonging – these are the dimensions of human experience that allow all of us to navigate the ups and downs that come with modern life. But when traumatic experiences disrupt and destabilize our lives, we are often left feeling powerless, fearful, betrayed, silenced, and disconnected. If you have survived a traumatic experience, well-meaning loved ones might tell you to “move on”, “put it behind you”, and “let it go”, but no matter how hard you try, you just don’t feel safe, and the world doesn’t feel like a place you can trust anymore.

We all carry multiple stories about our selves, our lives, and our experiences. There are parts in our stories that are sometimes hidden from our awareness. It is in the calm noticing, re-discovery, and re-telling of our stories that we can find and connect with parts of ourselves that may need healing, and also parts of ourselves that are insightful, strong, and brilliant even in the midst of hardship and darkness. Through facilitating, witnessing, and holding space together, we can engage in our personal work of healing. I look forward to connecting with you.
