Prevention recognizes excellence in products that help you live your healthiest life every day. After close consultation with top experts and evaluation of real-world testing, our editors recommend the best, most effective, science-backed products to our readers.
Each year, our editors and testers research and vet hundreds of products in the categories that make the biggest difference in your health and wellness, such as skincare, sleep, personal care, and more. With guidance from leading subject-matter experts, we select the most impressive items to test; the top performers are then awarded best-in-class accolades from Prevention.
Prevention has offered awards programs and delighted consumers with winning picks for more than a decade. By trusting Prevention’s selections, readers can feel confident that the products they purchase truly deserve a place in their home. Brands who have earned one of these prestigious awards have the opportunity to showcase their must-deserved accolades. In 2023, Prevention will host the following awards programs: Healthy Skin Awards, Beauty Awards, and Health at Home Awards.
About Prevention’s awards programs
Healthy Skin Awards
Next winners announced: February 2024
No matter what the latest beauty trends are, Prevention believes that healthy skin is always in. But because the marketplace for skincare is extremely crowded and many products come with premium prices, Prevention’s annual Healthy Skin Awards can help you sort through what’s out there, understand what’s in your products, and learn which ones are worth buying.
Prevention works closely with a team of dermatologists to narrow down thousands of potential winners, based on ingredient efficacy and product claims. Subsequent testing allows editors to choose winners that show strong performance. Winners are awarded in a variety of categories, including sun safety, cleansers, moisturizers, and others.

Beauty Awards
There is a remarkable amount of science that goes into quality beauty products, and Prevention is especially equipped to walk readers through it, thanks to the brand’s long history of science-backed health advice. The annual Beauty Awards is a trusted resource for people who want the truth about what beauty products truly work and why.
With a team of dermatologists and other beauty experts, Prevention’s editors narrow the overcrowded market from thousands to hundreds of potential winners. By identifying the most powerful and effective ingredients in hair, skin, and makeup products, the panel is able to determine top contenders that can then be tested. Winners are chosen based on expert guidance and consumer preference.

With guidance from a wide variety of experts in various fields, including home safety, air quality, ergonomics, and more, Prevention determines what homes need most. Sleep Awards
Quality slumber is one of the most important things you can give your body and mind—but it doesn’t always happen naturally. And while there are products that can help you fall asleep faster and sleep more deeply, it’s not always clear what’s worth your money. That’s where Prevention’s Sleep Awards come in.
Prevention works closely with sleep experts to determine what types of sleep tools can make a difference in supporting quality sleep. Using their recommendations and advice on must-have product features, Prevention editors sort through hundreds of varieties of sheets, pillows, blankets, window shades, sound machines, and other tools. Top contenders are then tested, and editors choose the winners based on criteria specific to each type of sleep tool.Important dates and details:

Healthy Hair Awards
What it takes to get great-looking hair depends on your hair type. The products that will keep curly hair healthy are not the same ones that will make thin hair vibrant. With guidance from hair experts, Prevention organized hundreds of hair products by hair type, tested top contenders, then chose winners based on the most effective ingredients, easiest to use products, and best value.

Using nutrition criteria around sugar, salt, serving sizes, and non-processed ingredients, the team brought hundreds of products into the kitchen for testing. Panels of food experts tasted the snacks and cooked with the ingredients, all in service of giving readers the best advice for how to spend their food budget.
