UPDATED:

The Queen Mary will once again host its annual Fourth of July celebration aboard this week — culminating with a fireworks spectacular that will be visible all along Long Beach’s waterfront.

This year’s event, starting at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 4, will have Long Beach’s only major fireworks show for Independence Day this year — after the Big Bang on the Bay, a local holiday staple, was canceled unexpectedly in June.

The Queen Mary, meanwhile, will offer attendees various food offerings, live entertainment, and activities throughout the day leading up to the evening’s big fireworks show finish at 9 p.m.

The ship’s Grand Salon will stick to an all-American theme — with barbecue, a live country band and line dancing lessons for those interested, according to the Queen Mary’s website.

And in the Queen’s Salon, guest will have an opportunity to step back into the era when the Queen Mary reigned, with a USO/Maritime swing band performance and swing dance demos.

The Royal Salon will have karaoke, and the ship’s beloved Observation Bar will be open for business — and will feature a live jazz band.

On the Verandah Deck, guests will be treated to a welcome from the Queen Mary’s commodore, according to the website, as well as various games, performances and competitions, including a dance off and a “Best July 4 Attire” contest.

Besides the fireworks show, the Queen Mary’s Independence Day event will also feature a flyover from a World War II aircraft.

Tickets to the event cost $55 for adults and $35 for children; $125 VIP tickets are also available.
