HALLOWELL – Lydia (Marica) Yindra, 96, known as Babi to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was born in New York City.

She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Frances Marica. In 1947 she married her childhood sweetheart, Joseph. After Joe graduated from the University of Michigan, they settled in Pennsylvania then Wilmington, Delaware where they lived for almost 50 years. In 2006 they moved to Hallowell. They shared a rich family life.

She is survived by her brother, Rudy Marica. She leaves daughter, Cathy and partner, John McCue; son John and partner Sara Yindra; son Joseph; Lisa Anderson former daughter-in-law. Grandchildren Emily McCue and partner Jody Brier; Eileen McCue and partner William Hafford; Justin Yindra and partner Sarah Taubner; Cody Yindra and partner Nicole Powers; Zachary Yindra and partner Wendy Higgins; Hannah Yindra. Great-grandchildren, Tobias Yindra, Sebastian Yindra; Lillian McCue Hafford, Annette McCue Hafford; Starla McCue, and Juniper McCue.

Lydia was the family matriarch and caregiver, always willing to support friends and family through hard times. An avid reader and an accomplished cook, she enjoyed making family cultural recipes. Lydia kept up with current affairs and engaged in lively conversations. She loved math and numbers and was very generous with her time and resources. Lydia found joy in her great grandchildren and will be remembered for her dedication to maintaining family connections, which were very important to her.

A private celebration of life will be planned in August.
