Greek dancers will be featured at this year’s St. Demetrios Greek Festival taking place Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Saco.

It’s July in Maine, which means warm weather, relaxation and in Saco, there will be good food, music and fun at the St. Demetrios Greek Festival, taking place Friday through Sunday, July 12-14, in Saco.

The festival, as always, features delicious food, both savory and sweet, like Greek spanakopita – spinach pie – lamb shish kebob and everybody’s favorite, baklava, a concoction of flaky phyllo dough, nuts, drenched in a honey-based syrup.

In addition to food, there will be church tours, Greek music and dancing. On Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 6 p.m. the Sons and Daughters of Alexander will perform Greek dancing in costumes.

The festival will take place at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 186 Bradley St. in Saco, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Admission and parking are free.
