Pauline Marie Garnache, 98, of Biddeford passed away on June 27, 2024.

She was born in Saco, on Aug. 26, 1925, to Arthur Pomerleau and Fedora (Cantara) Pomerleau. She married George V. Garnache of Biddeford on April 29, 1944. Pauline was a hard-working and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. Together she and her husband had numerous businesses over the years including a furniture and appliance store, seafood market, as well as rental cottages at Hills Beach. Pauline, who left school during her freshman year at Thornton to go to work, was proud of going back to school to get her GED during her middle years. She continued to be devoted to her husband George even after his passing in 2008.

Pauline always took great pleasure in outfitting her children for Easter Services as well as counted cross-stitch, painting, parades, bean suppers, Martel’s Ice Cream on Sunday afternoons, sunsets, and especially dancing with her husband. She was an avid walker until the end and attributed her longevity to that.

She was preceded in death by: infant daughters. Sandra and Mary; and her adult sons, George Jr. and Steven.

Pauline is survived by: daughters, Patricia Rhames (Richard) of Biddeford, Kathleen Proulx (David) of Jonesport, Nancy Garnache, her loving caregiver, of Biddeford, and daughter-in-law Sally Garnache of New Mexico; grandchildren, Joshua (Skaidra), Wesley (Heidi), Rebecca, Booker (Sarah), Chris, and Sadie; seven great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She has chosen to donate her body to the University of New England for medical research.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Most Holy Trinity, 271 Main St., Saco, ME 04072. There will be a Celebration of Life at AMVETS, 147 Alfred St., Biddeford, immediately afterwards.
