Landscaping for Lake Protection

Colin Holme from the Lakes Environmental Association will lead a workshop on lake-friendly planting and landscaping practices on Tuesday, June 18, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Maine Lake Science Center, 51 Willett Road.

Learn how to create a beautiful shorefront while managing stormwater and maintaining the health of the watershed. The workshop will cover native plantings and landscaping to promote biodiversity, protect water quality, and develop wildlife habitat.

Church plant sale

On Saturday, June 15, the First Congregational Church will hold a plant sale outside Oberg Insurance at 132 Main St. from 9 a.m. until noon. Perennials from local gardens available, as well as seedlings, houseplants and garden decor. All proceeds will go to support the church’s Missions Committee projects.

Music on Main

The popular free concert series Music on Main will feature the rock and roll and country band The Mallett Brothers at 6 p.m. June 22. Violinist Vanessa Jones will also perform. There will be food trucks and visitors may bring their own beverages, alcohol allowed, but coolers and pets are not. Learn more at musiconmainbridgton.com.

Hospital president at Rotary

Stephany Jacques, president of Bridgton and Rumford Hospital, will be the guest speaker at the Lake Region Rotary Club meeting June 27. Special band concert

The Bridgton Community Band will host the annual R.B. Hall Day celebration from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. June 29 at Stevens Brook Elementary School. Established in 1981, the event honors Maine composer R.B. Hall (1858-1907) who was primarily known as a composer of marches. This year will feature concerts by community bands from across the state as well as a range of music activities for all ages, food trucks, and a craft and vendor fair. Admission is free.
