An afternoon at Merrifield Farm

Join the Windham Historical Society and host Lyle Merrifield for a Saturday afternoon open house at Merrifield Farm, 195 North Gorham Road in Gorham, June 15 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be displays of old tools and memorabilia and visit the Sugar House where maple products will be available for sale. Junk in the Trunk sale

The American Legion Auxiliary Post 148 is hosting a Junk in the Trunk sale June 15 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Windham Veterans Center. Load up a vehicle with items to sell. Crafts, clothing, tools, housewares, jewelry, toys and artwork are all accepted. Small display tables and canopies can be used to show off items for sale. Stalls are also available for a $25 charge. Summer open house

The Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals will host its summer open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 23 at the farm located at 279 River Road in Windham. Stroll through the barns, pass by the paddocks and visit with the horses. There will also be lawn games and corn hole and spots to have a picnic lunch while there. To learn more, go to msspa.org.

Sea Dogs Fun Night

Sign up for a Sea Dogs game outing through the parks and recreation department. The outing will include a two-hour dinner buffet of hot dogs, hamburgers, barbecue chicken and dessert, starting an hour before the game. It will run from about 5 to 10 p.m.

A fireworks show will end the evening after the game. The price, $45, includes food and transportation. Call 892-1905 or go to windhamrecreation.com for more information.

Free community dinners

Two free community dinners are being offered this month. The first is on Thursday, June 13, and is being hosted by St. Ann’s Episcopal Church, 40 Windham Center Road. The next is June 20 and will also be at St. Ann’s, and will be hosted by Faith Lutheran Church. These Thursday evening dinners take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. They are done in conjunction with the Wayside Food Program.
