Girl Scouts honor Pelkey

Earlier this month, Girl Scouts of Maine announced this year’s adult awards, a series of honorable recognitions presented to exceptional volunteers for their above-and-beyond efforts within their Girl Scout Service Units. This year, Anne Pelkey of New Gloucester was honored with the Appreciation Pin.

The pin is an award given to a volunteer or staff member who provides exemplary service in support of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience that has had a measurable impact on two or more troops in one or more geographic areas.

As a Nidoba Service Unit Manager, Pelkey has reinvigorated the unit by fostering teamwork and creating a sense of belonging, according to GSME. She was recognized for her organization, consistency and ability to see the bigger picture.

GSME awarded the Appreciation Awards and other adult recognitions at its annual celebration May 11 in Fairfield.
