Plant sales
The Bridgton Community Center and the First Congregational Church will both hold fundraising plant sales on Saturday, June 15. The church sale runs from 9 a.m. to noon in front of Oberg Insurance, 132 Main St., and the BCC sale runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Center on Depot Street. Locally grown perennials, houseplants, seedlings and more will be for sale. Proceeds will benefit the church’s missions and BCC services.
Internet safety class
An internet safety class will be offered at the Bridgton Community Center on Monday and Tuesday, June 3 and 4, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. During the two-session class, participants will learn how to keep their information and devices safe while using the internet or working online. The class is free and open to all Maine residents. For more information call 647-3116.
Diabetes classes
Bridgton Hospital is offering outpatient diabetes management classes to help those with diabetes live well and manage the disease. The classes will run from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays, June 4, 11, and 18 in the Bridgton Hospital Conference Room. The cost of the series is covered by most insurance plans, including MaineCare and Medicare. Participants must pre-register and be able to attend all three classes. They also need to obtain a referral from their primary care provider and take part in a one-on-one dietary consultation. For more information and to sign up for the classes, call 647-6064.
Book donation day
On Saturday, June 8, the Friends of the Bridgton Public Library will be accepting donations of books for their summer book sale on June 20. Books may be donated at the Book Shed in the library parking lot from noon until 3:30 p.m. Gently used hardcover and paperback books, DVDs and audio books on CDs are welcome. Please no dictionaries, encyclopedias, textbooks or VHS tapes. For more information, call the Bridgton Public Library at 207-647-2472.
LEA pop-up walks
Lakes Environmental Association is hosting nature pop-up walks on its hiking trails and the public is welcome. It is a great way to explore nature and meet new friends. LEA staff will look at the upcoming week’s weather forecast and decide which day is the best to go out, then email people on their list to see who is interested. Sometimes the walks will have a theme such as birds or wildflowers, while others will focus on participants’ interests.
