In honor of the 10th anniversary of the legalization of marriage equality in Oregon, Mayor Ted Wheeler proclaimed May 19, 2024 to be Marriage Equality Day.
On May 19, 2014 a U.S. District Court Judge issued a decision in the case of Geiger v. Kitzhaber, striking down Oregon's limitations on marriage to same-gender couples.
