ADA Title I Reasonable Accommodations

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 is a civil rights law that guarantees equal opportunities for people with disabilities in employment, public accommodations, transportation, telecommunications, and in accessing State and local government services.

The Bureau of Human Resources is responsible for processing reasonable accommodation requests related to Title I of the ADA, which covers workplace-related accommodations for job applicants, job candidates, interns, employees, and elected officials.

Requesting an ADA Title I Reasonable Accommodation

  • Job applicants and candidates: If you need a reasonable accommodation to apply for a job or participate in an interview or skills evaluation, please contact the recruiter listed on the job posting of the position you are applying for.
  • Interns, employees, or elected officials: If you need a workplace-related reasonable accommodation, please contact your Bureau’s Human Resources Business Partner. If you are not sure who your HR Business Partner is, a full contact list can be found at our Employee Relations page.

ADA Title II Reasonable Accommodation

If you would like to request a reasonable accommodation so that you can access a public City service, program, or event, please contact the Office of Equity and Human Rights. They manage all requests related to Title II of the ADA, which includes State and local government services.
