A Brussels veteran — though young in political terms — who weathered the crisis of the corruption scandal dubbed Qatargate during her almost 2.5 years as president of the European Parliament. Metsola embodies the European election, and has been on a continent-wide tour to “get the vote out,” connecting with young voters. If Metsola gets elected again in Malta she should be up for a second term as Parliament chief.
